A Triumph of Teamwork: Invictus Games 2025
As we gear up for what promises to be an extraordinarily busy event season in 2025, we find ourselves reflecting on one of our most meaningful security operations to date: safeguarding the Invictus Games.
This international adaptive sports event for wounded and injured service members and veterans represented not just a complex security challenge, but a deeply rewarding experience for our entire team.
A Multi Dimensional Security Approach
The Invictus Games demanded a comprehensive security strategy unlike any other event. With 14 operating venues spread across multiple locations, in Vancouver and Whistler, our operation required extensive planning and flawless execution.
Our security solution incorporated:
Plain clothed officers specifically deployed to create a comfortable, low profile security presence for veterans
Uniformed teams managing access control and perimeter security
24/7 coverage from initial preparations through closing ceremonies
Asset protection specialists safeguarding equipment and facilities
Security Operations Centre providing centralised monitoring and coordination
Emergency Response Operations ready to address any situation
Ashley Meehan, our CEO said: "What made this operation special wasn't just the scale, but the purpose. When you're providing security for an event that celebrates the resilience and determination of service personnel who've sacrificed so much, it adds an entirely different dimension to your work."
Overcoming Logistical Challenges
The multi venue nature of the Invictus Games created significant logistical hurdles. Each competition site had unique operational requirements, from different access points to varying crowd management needs.
"Orchestrating operations across 14 venues required high level logistics and a committed team" said Ashley "Add in Whistler's challenging weather conditions, the distance from our central command and
you've got a security challenge that tests every aspect of your resources, team coordination and planning capabilities."
Among our biggest challenges was efficiently deploying specialised security personnel to all venues,
each with its own timeline, layout and requirements - while maintaining a consistent standard of service. Our team stayed organised, responsive and focused to deliver a secure and reliable security coverage from start to finish.
The Human Element: Beyond Security
Perhaps most meaningful was how our team connected with the event on a personal level. Many of our security officers reported that the experience transcended their typical professional duties.
Meeting athletes who've overcome incredible obstacles and hearing their stories changed our perspective on resilience. These competitors redefined what it means to persevere.
Our plain clothes approach proved particularly effective. By blending in and creating a less visible
security presence around the athletes’ areas, it helped create an environment where veterans and participants could feel at ease while still maintaining rigorous security standards.
As we prepare for what will likely be our busiest event season yet in 2025, the lessons and experiences
from the Invictus Games have sharpened our capabilities, strengthened or resources and reinforced our approach to complex, high profile events.
The feedback from organisers and athletes was tremendously positive, they specifically noted how our teams worked calmly and effectively under pressure, often solving problems before they became issues.
The experience has further refined our:
Multi-venue coordination strategies
Specialised deployment of plain clothes and uniformed teams
Integration with external security partners and authorities
Ability to maintain comprehensive coverage across extended timeframes
- Further enhanced the experience of our management and supervisory team
Beyond the operational success, this event reminded us why we do what we do. Security isn't just about protection, it's about creating environments where meaningful human experiences can unfold safely.
As we move forward into a packed calendar of events for 2025, we carry these experiences with us, not just the operational lessons but the human connections that make our work meaningful. We wish the
Invictus Games all the same success in Birmingham 2027!
If your organisation is planning events for the coming year, we'd welcome the opportunity to discuss how our comprehensive approach can provide security that's both highly effective and thoughtfully implemented.Â
